"you can't judge a fish by its inability to climb a tree just because a monkey can..."

Hello Reader,

An effective learning support system doesn't need to be forced, rather, it needs to flow with the everyday school activities.

It begins from what happens in the classroom!

How do you provide differentiation? How do you ensure your students adequately demonstrate what they've been taught?

Therefore if you want a holistic outcome for your school's learning support system, it starts with your class teachers.

If class teachers can't teach in a way that provides reasonable adjustments, then you would find a situation where students are pushed for special education when in fact it's a teaching strategy deficit.

I mean, you can't judge a fish by its inability to climb a tree just because a monkey can. Can you?

This then brings us to the concept of UDL - universal design for learning. UDL has 3 principles.

Provide various ways for your students to interact with what you are teaching them - multiple means of engagement.

Provide various ways for your students to get access to what you are teaching them - multiple means of representation.

Provide various ways for your students to demonstrate what you've taught them - multiple means of expression.

Get familiar with these 3 key principles and see how your classroom will instantly transform.

I hope this helps.

To your success and that of your students.
